Disable Pass Through on ESXi Host

  • Ensure pass through is disabled on ESXi host via one of the following:
    Note: Changes will require an ESXi host restart
  1. ESXi web interface:
    Under Manage\Hardware\PCI Devices the NVIDIA items should be set as follows:
    SR-IOV: Not capable
    Passthrough Disabled
  2. vCenter Server web interface:
    Under Hosts and Clusters\Configure\Hardware\PCI Devices\All PCI devices the status of NVIDIA items should be 'Unavailble'

Shared Direct

  • Ensure 'Shared Direct' settings are set correctly:
  • Log into vCenter Server web interface
  • Under:
    • Hosts and Clusters\Configure\Hardware\Graphics\Graphics Devices\Edit\Shared Direct
    • Hosts and Clusters\Configure\Hardware\Graphics\Host Graphics\Edit\Shared Direct
  • Confirm they are both set to 'Shared Direct' 'Vendor shared passthrough graphics'
