NFS ports

NFSv4 only requires 2 ports to be opened in the firewalls for communication:

  • TCP Port 2049 - NFSv4 Communications
  • UDP Port 111 - RPC Communications

Redhat still supports NFSv2 and NFSv3. These services use dynamic ports. In order to fix the ports use, they can be configured in /etc/sysconfig/nfs.

The file suggests default ports for the services. These ports do not conflict with any of the normal Redhat Services. Any ports can be used, but you must check for conflicts.

Ports suggested in nfs config

875 RQUOTAD
892 MOUNTD_PORT
662 STATD_PORT
2020 STATD_OUTGOING_PORT

Check Current Ports

To check the current port used for NFS use the rpcinfo command

rpcinfo -p
