Vino VNC

The GNOME based VINO server allows admins to view the current state of the remote desktop environments.

Installation

This can be installed with teh package vino-server

vino-preferences

Once installed run the vino-preferences command from the desired user account. This will load the GUI based RDP window. The window allows the user to configure sharing, security and notifications.

Sharing Options

The main option here will allow or deny VNC sharing.

Security Options

There are four levels of security that can be applied.

  • Allow other users to control your desktop
  • Confirm each access to this machine
  • Require the user to enter this password
  • Configure Network to automatically accept Connections.

Notification Options

Only one of the three notification options can be active. They have no bearing on the configuration, and simply define how and when notifications are displayed.
