Installation Process
Piston Openstack is a bare metal install that delivers virtalized storage, compute, network and management. Piston can be installed on a minimum of three servers (referred to as cloud nodes) connected using switches for data and management.
Hardware Requirements
The nodes in a Piston Openstack cloud are divided up into groups called cells where each cell has a dedicaed datebase server and message queue broker. Each cell can contain up to 250 nodes.
Piston Openstack Deployment Model
There are a number of required and optional components that are listed below:
- A Cluster of physical servers - the cloud nodes
- A Server - referred to as the boot node - connects the nodes and provisions services
- L3 Data Switch
