Requirements

  • A USB flashdrive (minimum size 2GB) loaded with the Qlustar installer
  • A 64bit x86 server/PC (or virtual machine) with:
  1. least two network adapters
  2. at least one disk with a minimum size of 160GB
  3. optionally a second (or more) disk(s) with a minimum size of 160GB
  4. CPU supporting virtualization (for virtual front-end and demo nodes)
  5. Internet connection


Setting up the USB

Download the package from the qluster website. This will be anmed something like "qlustar-installer.img.gz".

Plug the USB stick into a linux based system and use the dd command to copy the file over, assuming the USB is /dev/sdb. This can take up to 20 minutes.

gunzip -c qlustar-installer.img.gz | dd of=/dev/sdb

Installing the OS

Boot your system from the USB stick and you will be given serveral options

Qlustar Installation
Qlustar Installation (ttyS0)
Qlustar Installation (ttyS1)
Qlustar Installation (ttyS2)
Boot OS of first partition on first disk

Follow the on screen questions to set the localizations settings, disk configurations, network settings and other settings. You will then be asked what software packages to install.

You can review the settings before installation. Installation can take a few minutes before confirming that you want to reboot the system.
