New page

== Samba Clients ==

There are two types of samba clients: one to connect to shared directories, the other connects to shared printers. Both of these servers can connect to windows and Linux systems.

The Samba Client can be installed using the samba-client package.

== Command Line Tools ==

The smbclient command is the main command used to test and configure the Samba Client.

<syntaxhighlight>
smbclient -L server1.example.com -U michael
</syntaxhighlight>

The L flag defines the Server
the U flag defines the Username

The command checks what shares are available on the server

== Mount Options ==

<syntaxhighlight>
mount.cifs //server1.example.com/pubic /home/shared -o username=michael
</syntaxhighlight>
