Much like folders you can add permissions or users that can access this share. In my example i wanted test to be avalible to everyone on the network.

So i selected "Allow Guest Access". If you wanted just your user to have access then you would leave this un ticked and then only allow access to a user or group.

Guide on how to add a SMB share

The process for creating NFS and AFP shares is largely similar but i went with SMB since i think this will be the most used.

Navigate to the sharing tab within the freenas interface and click. The first option of AFP will show and the various shares already setup.
