The process for creating NFS and AFP shares is largely similar but i went with SMB since i think this will be the most used.
Navigate to the sharing tab within the freenas interface and click. The first option of AFP will show and the various shares already setup.
Navigate to the SMB shares tab. Hit the "Add Windows (SMB) share" button.
Navigate to the folder (dataset) you wish to share. In my example its a folder "test" i made in the other guide on creating folders found here:
Much like folders you can add permissions or users that can access this share. In my example i wanted test to be avalible to everyone on the network. So i selected "Allow Guest Access". If you wanted just your user to have access then you would leave this un ticked and then only allow access to a user or group.
If all has gone well then you should now see the SMB share you set out to create.
