Phi Configuration

There are three methods to configure a PHI card on bright: cm-mic-setup, cmsh and cmgui. It is recommended that administrators use cm-mic-setup to set up their PHI cards as it is easy to mis configure them through cmsh and cmgui.

cm-mic-setup

Set up is done intreativly by default, but all required information can be passsed through using the options.

A basic command is shown. Here MIC is the Phic card, while MICHOSTNAME is the name of the host holding the card.

cm-mic-setup --add-mic <MIC>... --mic-host <MICHOSTNAME>... [OPTIONS]

The cm-mic-setup with go through the following steps:

  1. The PHI is added to Bright
  2. A network bridge is created if needed
  3. Network Configuration
  4. MIChost role is assigned to the host
  5. IP forwarding is enabled on the host
