Installation

Opening SMM

SMM is run through a web browser on the master system. Point the browser towards the localhost and the port set up for the web interface during installation.

http://localhost:4040

You will find a login screen for SSM, the default login is admin, admin.


Adding nodes

Click on Administration in the bottom left corner, the click on Host Discovery Wizard. This will guide you through adding a node to SMM.

There are three types of node that can be added:

  1. Agent managed - must have the SMM agent installed on the node

This type of node had the most functionality. It will combine the information from the agent with the IPMI if it's available.

  1. Agentless - For those systems without the Agent installed
  1. IPMI

Only controls what can already be done through IMPI.

SMM allows monitoring across all nodes, a node group or an individual node.

Controlling a node

Each node has various commands that can be run - they will be shown down the right hand side in several sections.

  1. IPMI - Power controls, Reset the BMC, flash the UID LED, etc
  2. Agent Managed - Graceful Power controls
  3. System Information
  4. Remote Control - IPMI Web interface, VNC viewer, The Agent Web
  5. Host Admin - Host properties, delete a host
  6. Reports

The Agent Web

Opens a new page.

The Page shows all the information that can be gathered in one place.

  • If the IPMI has been found a full range of sensor readings will be shown in a graphical form.
  • The system information can be found in full
  • The reports on the system
  • The system Configuration
