Linux: Changing the Port mode on ConnectX-4 VPI Adapters

Changing the ConnectX4 VPI Adapter Card Port Configuration

This step must be completed on system with OFED installed and the firmware updated to the latest version (Tested with 12.12.1100)

Variable 1 = Infiniband Variable 2 = Ethernet

LINK_TYPE_P1 = Port 1 LINK_TYPE_P2 = Port 2

Start MST and query available devices, mst status will show currently installed devices, this must be used with the '-d' argument when setting the port mode:

mst start
mst status

The below sets Port 1 to Ethernet mode.

mlxconfig -d /dev/mst/mt4115_pciconf0 s LINK_TYPE_P1=2
