SSH Configuration

For basic Operation you don't need to change the configuration files at all. In fact SSH is normally installed and started by default, and its default port is open in the firewaall.

But for more complicated Opertation chanages are made to /etc/ssg/sshd_config

sshd_config directives

Port 22 #The port used for ssh communication
AddressFamily any  #Listen on ipv4 or ipv6
AddressFamily inet #Listen on ipv4
AddressFamily inet6 #Listen on ipv6
ListenAddress 0.0.0.0 #Listen on all ipv4 addresses
ListenAddress ::  #Listen on all ipv6 addresses
Protocol 2  #DO NOT change to 1 as it has been cracked
#Hostkey /etc/ssh/ssh_host_key  #NO LONGER REQURIED as part of ssh 1
#Hostkey /etc/ssh/ssh_host_rsa_key #No NEED TO CHANGE Host key locations
#Hostkey /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key #No NEED TO CHANGE Host key locations
#KeyRegenerationInterval 1h #NO LONGER REQURIED as part of ssh 1
#ServerKeyBits 1024 #NO LONGER REQURIED as part of ssh 1
