To access the freenas Sync go to:

http://10.0.0.2:8888/gui/

login: btsync Password: Brawn09

After that, the interface is largely the same as the one on your laptop, mac, desktop or phone.

Add folders and keys as you want.

Adding a folder in freenas to have for bitsync use is a little more tricky...

Locate resilio_1 folder (the new name for Btsync) it will be in the "jail" section, this is where you will find any plugins data/folders

To get here on the left navigate to "storage" then hit the small + next to volumes then "/mnt/S1" then "/mnt/S1/Jails" then "/mnt/S1/Jails/resilio_1":

Within "/mnt/S1/jails/resilio_1" is where any btsync(resilio) folders should sit and no where else. btsync only has permissions within this folder, if you try to link anywhere else, it will not let you.

To creat a new folder select "create new Dataset" within the dataset (folder) you want, in my example i did "test"

Here you can see the new Dataset "test" created within the btsync jail:

Unfortunately this is not all you need to do, next is permissions. Btsync has its own user "btsync". Add permissions to your newly created folder. Change permissions from root to btsync on both user and group. Make sure the write tick box is ticked for user and group:

Now you are ready to add the new test folder to bitsync itself, login to the btsync inteface (http://10.0.0.2:8888) and click on add folder on the left. Navigate to "test" here you will notice btsync can only see within its own Jail and NOT the true root directory of freenas. Btsync can only see what its allowed to.

If you try to add the folder and it errors stating btsync cannot add the folder due to write permissions, then you have no done the last step around permissions correctly.

If successful you should see the following, a newly created sync folder!:
